An Invitation to Worship

You are Welcome Here

Welcome to the Monthly Meeting of Friends of Philadelphia, also known as Arch Street Friends thanks to the location of our Meeting House on Arch Street in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood. Arch Street Friends offer unprogrammed Meeting for Worship twice a week to gather as Friends in silent worship. Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am at one of two formats—in person, or online via Zoom—or on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 pm on Zoom. Information about how to participate with us in Worship can be found in our Calendar.

Upcoming Events

Wed April 22

Midweek Meeting for Worship | Via Zoom

5:30-6:30pm

Venue: Virtual Meeting for Worship

Midweek Meeting for Worship begins at 5:30 pm. Please note that the 'Join Online Meeting' link is only clickable the day of Meeting for Worship.

The Zoom room will open at 5:25 pm, with Meeting for Worship beginning at 5:30 pm and lasting for 45 minutes. Joys and Sorrows as well as Announcements will follow Meeting, with the Zoom worship to culminate at 6:30pm.

Messages must come from the heart and be understood to fit in with the prayerfulness of the meeting. Only one, we listen in silence and do not respond verbally. If you have a message that does not seem to you to be inspired, you will be invited to share it at the rise of Meeting for Worship.

We welcome newcomers and visitors to join us.

Sat April 25

Extended Meeting for Worship

2:00-5:30pm

Venue: Arch Street Meeting House

We will gather in silence in this longer-form opportunity for worship, with hearts and minds open and bent towards listening to that of God among and within us. Spoken ministry may arise from the silence, though it is not uncommon for worship to remain silent for the duration of our time together. Messages should be a deepening of the silence we share. To this end, we hold the silence as ministry itself, which has the capacity for transformation and transcendence. Friends should anticipate participating for the full Extended Worship.

Extended Meeting for Worship is open to all those who wish to deepen their spiritual practice and relationship with Spirit, who wish for more inward reflection and connection to the divine within, and are seeking to expand their individual and communal spiritual lives.

Spring Walking Series

9:30-10:30am

Venue: Starting Location: Arch Street Meeting House

Celebrate spring by participating in our spring walking series. We will gather at the meeting house at 9:30 AM and pair up for a 30-45 minute walk through Old City (each pair chooses their own route!) before returning for Meeting for Worship.

This is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our community, engage in meaningful conversation, and enjoy the warmer weather. You might just get to know someone in our Quaker community better as you stroll. Complimentary coffee and disposable cups will be provided by the Outreach Committee.

RSVPs are encouraged but not required. (However, RSVPs allow us to plan for enough coffee or alert interested folks if the weather looks bad.) We look forward to walking with you! RSVP Here >>
