An Invitation to Worship

You are Welcome Here

Welcome to the Monthly Meeting of Friends of Philadelphia, also known as Arch Street Friends thanks to the location of our Meeting House on Arch Street in Philadelphia's Old City neighborhood. Arch Street Friends offer unprogrammed Meeting for Worship twice a week to gather as Friends in silent worship. Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am at one of two formats—in person, or online via Zoom—or on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 pm on Zoom. Information about how to participate with us in Worship can be found in our Calendar.

Meeting for Worship | In Person

Venue: Arch Street Meeting House, 320 Arch Street, Philadelphia PA 19106

We gather in-person for unprogrammed meeting for worship at 10:30 am on Sunday mornings. Visit our Invitation to Worship  page for an introduction on how we gather in worshipful silence, intending to open ourselves wholly to the Divine Spirit, which we believe is within and beyond each person.

Vaccination is strongly suggested and masks are optional. We welcome all newcomers and visitors to join us.

Our meeting provides free childcare and, following the rise of meeting, we provide refreshments on most Sundays to enjoy each other's fellowship after worship.

Please note that in-person worship is separate and non-hybrid from the online Meeting for Worship we offer via Zoom at the same time on Sunday mornings.

Adult Education | Andrew Anderson: Faith and Practice

Venue: Online

The Religious Society of Friends publication Faith and Practice captures the religious experience of its community through personal experiences and extracted testimonies (its “faith”), as well as the corporal methods of being a religious organization (its “practice”). How do Quakers use this book, which is periodically updated by Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, for guidance? And in what way are the faiths and customs of a meeting more expansive than what is written? Andrew Anderson, a member of our meeting’s Worship and Ministry Committee, will speak about Faith and Practice's history and current use.

Andrew Anderson is a member of the Monthly Meeting of Friends of Philadelphia (Arch Street Friends) and the executive director of the Friends Rehabilitation Program, a Quaker-related Philadelphia non-profit whose mission is to provide housing and social services for low and moderate income households.

Please note the link above to join virtually only goes live the day of the online lecture.
